Casting

How did you hear about the original auditions?
Online at www.mntvandfilm.org. My mother told me about it and I thought, “Why not? It could be fun.”

What stories can you tell about the audition experience? Were you nervous? Was it fun? Scary?
I was real excited, especially after getting called back a month later. It was kind of out of the blue. I couldn’t stop laughing at the callbacks. I started improving here and there, and pretty soon no one was even reading the script anymore, we were making up our own scenes.

Before filming, had you read the Harry Potter books or seen the actual movies?
I’m not a big reader, but I had read up to the 4th book, and had seen all the movies. These books are really one of the only books I’ve actually read, everything else I owe to sparknotes.

If so, did that influence how you acted your character?
Kind of. I knew he had to be younger then me, so I made my voice a little higher. But at the same time I knew we were making a mockumentary so if I wasn’t exactly like Harry it would be ok.

Are you anything like your character, or, which Harry Potter character are you most like?
I am like Harry in some aspects, we both like to fly….I guess that pretty much covers it.

Have your friends ever said you look like your character?
No, mainly because I don’t wear glasses. But I know Jeremy does!

Will they after they see the film?
Good question! No. Ok maybe.

On Set

What were your first impressions on your first day of shooting?
Where’s my scar? Where’s my glasses? Where’s my trailer?

What is your favorite memory from being on the set?
Being told to “stick to acting” by some lighting guy who did not like me questioning his lighting techniques, gotta love him….wait wait, my favorite memory? Um, probably the look on peoples faces seeing us in bathrobes walking around a golf course. Priceless.

Aside from yourself, who was your favorite member of the cast?
Probably Eric….(I swear he better say I was his favorite or I’ll feel betrayed!) We had a lot of fun scaring people, making jokes and going yard sailing.

Did you have a favorite crew person?
The lighting guy who was there the first day. He probably thinks I’m a completely conceded A hole who believes he is better then everyone else…but I’m NOT. I’m just better then some… heeeeeeey JK-town jeez!

Is this your first film project or have you worked on many other movies in the past?
I’ve worked on a couple past ones, but this has been the most fun, and I’m very excited to see the finish project.

Most importantly, did you have fun?
Yeah, except on the REALLY early shoots….boo!

Are there any other stories from set you want to share?
G-rated! Ha! So this one time this lighting guy…..Ok I’m done.

The Future

Do you plan on returning next summer to shoot Harry Putter 2?
Maybe, depends on how busy I am with my summer show and how good the script is... But nothing a little Benjamin Franklin couldn’t fix ? PLEEEEASE!?

The script for Harry Putter 2 is currently in its third draft, but if you could write one special scene to be included, what would it be, and how would you make it funny?
No idea, I’m going to “stick to acting” on this one.

If you had the chance to work side by side with any actor (local, Hollywood, union or not, anyone), who would it be?
Jim Carrey…he’s the man.
