The Story of "Harry Putter"

"Harry Putter" is series of independently produced shorts which parody the Harry Potter stories by JK Rowling and associated Warner Bros. films.

Harry Putter is a mockumentary with interviews and stories about the 'real boy', Harry Putter, upon whom JK Rowling based her famous books. As Putter explains, Rowling (and Hollywood) took a lot of literary license to his life's tale, changing or outright omitting many of the actual facts about his life for "artistic" purposes. Harry now intends to set the record straight in this revealing and honest documentary about what REALLY happened. For example, what teenage boy with an invisibility cloak wouldn't try to check out the girls' locker room at least once? And not ALL wizards ride around on fancy Nimbus 2000 broom sticks; those who can afford it much prefer the more technologically advanced and smoother riding Oreck XL vacuum cleaner!

The Story Behind "Harry Putter"

The concept for "Harry Putter" originated at a WaZoo! Show script reading session in the summer of 2004, when it was noted that troupe member Jeremy Gustafson bore a striking resemblance to HP actor Daniel Radcliffe. From a scratch sheet of paper covered in scribbled notes, Jeremy wrote an initial draft and presented to a subsequent WaZoo! meeting, where it garnered much positive feedback and suggestions. The script has gone through numerous revisions since then in conjunction with the creative effort of Ben Latz and Matthew Feeney.

When the script for "Harry Putter 1" was finished, Gustafson set about making the film a reality, a goal which could not have been achieved without the support and guidance of best friend (and producer) Matthew Feeney. Auditions for "Harry Putter and the Sorcerer's Phone", the first film in the mockumentary series, were held in April and May of 2006. Principal photography began June 25th and continued for 9 non-consecutive days in the summer, wrapping on August 26th.
